As I walked away, I felt the inevitable.
Before the veil of alcohol, the distance was shorter, the feelings sharper. I felt myself tighten, veins throbbing, head swirling. I felt my heart exploding in my neck.
This wasn’t thinking I would like to ask her out, that fantasy, that internal monologue that would never leave my head.
This was about to happen, this was happening.
As I walked away, I knew I wasn’t walking away.
